Microarray

Description

The CPGP was central to the development of an Agilent 44K 60-mer oligo microarray chip. A unigene assembly was carried out by the CPGP bioinformatics group, using ESTs from CPGP, TIGR, IPK-Gatersleben, Wageningen University and Aalborg University, under a multi-institutional collaboration called the Potato Oligo Chip Initiative (POCI). The assembly made was used by the Agilent team for the oligo design. This oligochip will be publicly available from Agilent beginning in September 2008 and promises to be the most robust chip ever developed for the study of potato gene function. It can be used to compare the gene expression profiles of potato responses to a series of biotic and abiotic stresses, as well as in paired genotype comparisons, thereby allowing for the simultaneous screening of thousands of candidate genes.
