Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (AAFC) is Canada’s lead department for agriculture and food originating from agriculture. AAFC provides information, research and technology, and policies and programs to achieve security of the food system, health of the environment and innovation for growth. Under its corporate umbrella, AAFC provides a broad base of science and technology in potatoes, via the Potato Research Network, which includes a very strong anchor at the Potato Research Centre (Fredericton). The latter provides new cultivars and improved germplasm for potatoes, and its programs include production, handling, and management of potatoes and protecting natural resources

BioAtlantech is a not-for-profit corporation based in New Brunswick and is the lead agency for the bio-industries in the province of New Brunswick. The mandate of the corporation is: to nurture new and existing bio-businesses in New Brunswick, to support the enhancement of biotech R&D infrastructure in New Brunswick; and to enhance public awareness on the increasing role of biotechnology in today's economy and society.

Genome Atlantic is a non-profit group, dedicated to promoting and fostering genomics research in the four Atlantic Provinces. One of six regional genomic research centres in Canada, Genome Atlantic invests in large-scale genome research projects and platforms. It is dedicated to developing leadership in carefully selected areas of genomics and proteomics, and to building genomics investment and economic growth in Atlantic Canada.

The Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) is an internationally renowned teaching and research institution that provides education in the science and management of agriculture and related disciplines. Located in Truro, Nova Scotia, NSAC offers academic programs that qualify students for technician and technology diplomas and undergraduate and graduate degrees related to agriculture, aquaculture, business and the environment.

The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is a comprehensive, multi-campus institution. Founded in 1785, UNB offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 60 disciplines and continuing education in a variety of fields.
